After a long trip out to sea with rain and wind, as well as spotting sperm whales of course! 🐋... we were also rewarded with a beautiful rainbow on our way back to the harbour 🌈

Oh my God wat e nice Shy. Bravo Conny👀💋

On days like today, when the fog is so thick you can’t even see the harbour, there are other amazing animals here on Andøya to enjoy 🦌

Called 'Elg' in Norwegian, the moose are the largest land animals found in Norway. They can reach a shoulder height of a stunning 2.3 meters! With antlers that span up to 1.5 meters 👀

Playful and sociable, Risso's Dolphins are quite new to the more northern latitudes, such as here in Andenes at 69°North.

Here you can see an older male with a white front body and larger size, swimming with at least one calf. The calves have pinkish/ brown faces and are of course smaller.

Risso's Dolphins also have very visible scars, and this helps us to recognise them. They turn whiter as the scars accumulate over time and the skin loses pigmentation.
