The whale museum is located in our basement at the Whale Centre. Guided tour in the whale museum is included in the whale safari ticket but the museum can also be visited independently of whale safari if desired. In all cases we will offer you guiding so that you get the most out of your visit.
ABOUT THE MUSEUM
The museum covers a number of topics around the whales’ biology and ecosystem they live in. Further, research on whales, the local conditions that enable whale watching, as well as specific information about the various whale types, are covered topics. The museum has also a real skeleton of a sperm whale.
ABOUT THE GUIDING
Guiding in the museum is usually performed before whale watching trip and has a duration of 45-60 minutes. All our guides must undergo an internal training and checkout to ensure that they have good knowledge of the material to convey. Many of our guides have an education in marine biology that contribute to additional information about whales and the marine environment.
For you to get the most out of the museum tour, we will try to our best ability to offer guiding in your language. Before the whale safari trip, we will look at the nationalities and select the languages so that we cover as many as possible out of the resources we have. The languages we usually can offer are:
- Norwegian/swedish/danish
- English
- German
- Spanish
- French
- Italian
The availability of the various languages will vary somewhat depending when in the season you visit us. Because of the current travel restrictions, the languages offered during summer 2021 might be limited.
